Fifth graders studied masks
of various African countries and then created their own masks
in art class using the
same type of characteristics they had seen in examples. They created a
wooden effect by using shoe polish on their red clay,
bisque-fired ceramic masks. Students embellished
their masks with beads and
raffia. |
