Africow
Mills Lawn's Udder Chaos entry 2005

Mills Lawn's 2005 Udder Chaos entry, Africow, was on display at Youngs Jersey Dairy until September 29. Our cow was auctioned to the highest bidder on  October 1. Half of our proceeds were donated to Hurricane Katrina Relief. The rest  benefited the Mills Lawn Art Department.

She was named Africow because fifth graders decorated her in the same manner as they did their African art masks. Students gave her a more wooden appearance by applying a few coats of brown shoe polish. She was then adorned with beads, shells, raffia, wire, twine, and colorful fabric. Her face is covered with a ceramic mask, also polished to look like wood.

The fiberglass cow was purchased by the Antioch Company, which has been Mills Lawn's sponsor for five years of Udder Chaos.
