Students in the ILE Fine Arts Pull-out explored the work of British
sculptor and photographer
Andy
Goldsworthy. They watched a segment of his
movie "Rivers
and Tides" and talked about the nature of
his art. He is a sculptor and photographer who works with found materials
on site, drawing from the natural setting to
create his works. Most of the works are
temporary but that is part of their beauty. The process of creating is as
important as the end product. The children enjoyed creating, knowing that
their works would endure only in photographs. We hope to put up a show of
this at the public Library. Each child will also have a collage of their
endeavors and will write to Mr. Goldsworthy about what they learned or how
they feel about this form of artwork. Mills Lawn parent Libby Rudolf and
Mills Lawn grandparent Sue Rudolf helped with this project.
