Older grade classes at Mills Lawn are paired with younger ones to provide assistance and friendship. The idea is to help all students form positive relationships and for the older ones to provide service to their fellow students.

In this example, Ms. Simms's first grade class and Ms. Morgan’s fourth class are buddies this year, and Mrs. Hawkey's fourth graders are buddies with Mrs. Mabra's first grade class. They are shown here getting to know each other using interviews and reading picture books that they like. More joint activities are  planned for the school year.
