First and
second graders participated in a 4-H program to hatch chicks in the
classroom.
Each
classroom started with 12 fertilized eggs which were put in an incubator.
We turned the eggs three times a day for 21 days. We read books about
chicks and chickens, conducted science experiments using eggs, and wrote
in our journals about what was happening to the chicks. Forty-two chicks
hatched among the 5 classes!
When it
was time to give the chicks back we still couldn't answer the age old
question, "Which came first, the chicken or the egg?" |
