CSI: Mills Lawn
Chemistry and Forensic Science Residency
Dr. David Finster, Wittenberg University
January 2004

Mills Lawn sixth graders were involved in an exciting science residency as they explored chemistry and forensic science with Dr. David Finster, Chair  Department of Chemistry, Wittenberg University.

Dr. Finster, who is also a Mills Lawn parent, led students through an investigation of a simulated crime of theft. Using clues gathered from the crime scene, students investigated fingerprints, shoe prints, soil, ink, fiber analysis, and other physical evidence. The also used infrared technology and gas chromatography to narrow down the list of "suspects" and tried to determine who committed the crime.

Dr. Finster's residency was partially sponsored by the Yellow Springs Endowment for Education.
