In science class third graders
studied animals and their life cycles. During this unit the students were
able to experience the actual life cycle of the mealworm. Each child got
their own mealworm. They named their mealworms and studied their
habitat, needs, and body features. The students even experimented
with how wind, water, and movement affected
these small creatures. The most exciting part of the whole experience was
watching the mealworms turn into pupas and then into beetles.
