Narrows Reserve Field Trip
Third graders study rocks, minerals, and fossils

Third graders traveled to the Narrows Reserve (Beavercreek, Ohio) as part of their unit of study about rocks, minerals, and fossils.  Students had a lot of fun learning about minerals, rocks, and fossils. They made molds of fossils, went on a fossil hunt in the creek, played a rock game and explored the woods for different types of rocks. Before the trip students observed rocks they brought in from home, kept a rock journal, and explored the different properties of rocks.
