Reality Day
December  2004

Fifth and sixth graders learned about the world of work and money by participating in Reality Day, in cooperation with the Greene County Extension Office of The Ohio State University.

Students were randomly assigned an occupation, education level, income, and children. With their monthly incomes in hand, they visited various stations to purchase housing, food, transportation, clothing, insurance, child care, etc.

Local businesses and organizations, along with other volunteers, staffed the booths and helped students with their choices during this simulation.

All students got a candy bar at the conclusion of Reality Day: A 100 Grand bar, if they ended up with money left over or a Zero bar, if they had nothing left.
