Horseback Riding
K-2 Intervention Program

The K-2 Intervention Program involves students in a horseback riding experience at the Yellow Springs Riding Centre. The program, sponsored by the United Way, Yellow Springs Community Council, Ohio Silver, and the Mills Lawn PTO, is designed to help children increase self-confidence, improve physical balance and awareness, and enhance concentration and retention.

With the help of volunteers from Cedarville University, the Riding Centre teaches students about horse equipment and basic riding skills. Back in the classroom students learn facts about horses, what they eat, and some basics of care. They read books about horses, make puppets and write individual responses to their experience for each lesson.
