100th Day of School  Our kindergartners celebrated by learning about the meaning of 100.

African Art Masks  Fifth graders created these beautiful traditional masks in art class.

African American Musicians Salute was presented by grades K-2 to honor the accomplishments of some famous musicians.

African Mosaics  Art masks were created by first graders using dried beans.

Arbor Day  Students helped plant trees on our school grounds.

Bike Hike Third and fourth graders learn about safety and have fun on a guided bike ride.

Buddy Classes Students of different grades got together to share in learning and friendship activities.

Bulgarian Folk Dancing  A folk dance teacher from Bulgaria visited Mills Lawn.

Chilean Students visited Mills Lawn in September.

Clifton Challenge  Fifth and sixth graders participated in team building activities.

Collins School  Third graders visited an 1800s one-room schoolhouse.

Color Value Study  Fourth graders studied about color value and produced their own artworks to show what they learned.

Cox Arboretum Our kindergartners visited a local nature preserve and gardens.

Egyptian Art Masks  Sixth graders created beautiful art masks as part of their study of Ancient Egypt.

Evening in Egypt Sixth graders showed what they learned about Ancient Egypt and had fun with "King Tut."

"Excellent" Rating  Mills Lawn was rated "Excellent" by the Ohio Department of Education.

Family Folk Dance Night  was held in January, sponsored by the PTO.

Family Science Night  featured plenty of engaging science activities and Doktor Kaboom.

Fine Arts Pull-out  ILE students explored making art with natural found objects.

Fire-Rescue Art Exhibit  Mills Lawn helped Miami Twp. Fire-Rescue Celebrate 100 years of service.

Halloween Parade  Our annual costume march through downtown Yellow Springs.

International Night  Sixth graders showed what they learned about countries around the world at this annual event.

Invention Convention  The sixth grade's annual adventure in creative problem solving.

Johnston Farm  Fourth graders visited this Ohio Historical Society site in Piqua.

Jump Rope for Heart  Mills Lawn students participated in this annual fundraiser for the American Heart Association.

Jutta Galbraith  Mills Lawn's P.E. teacher had a game she created published.

KidFood Drive  Our Student Council collect food and other items for people in need.

KinderConcert  Our kindergartners got happy with their annual musical program.

Mills Lawn Bulldogs shirts were sold by the PTO and was a successful Fall fundraiser.

Morning Warming  Our third graders learned about economics concepts by running their own hot chocolate business.

Movement Workshop  Students in grades K-2 participated in a workshop led by the Yellow Springs Kids' Playhouse.

Narrows Reserve  Third graders visited a nature preserve to learn about rocks, minerals, and fossils.

Native American Totems  Fifth graders created stories and totems as part of an interdisciplinary study of Native Americans.

Poetry Residency  Ohio Poet of the Year visited Mills Lawn as our Poet in Residence.

Poetry Volunteers  Two Mills Lawn Teachers Emeritus taught poetry to first graders.

PTO Community Potluck Dinner  attracted a large, hungry crowd in September.

PTO Magazine Sale  The largest fundraiser of the year.

Rainbow Concert  First graders performed a colorful concert.

Reality Day  Fifth and sixth graders learned about the world of work and money.

Reindeer Run  Our kindergartners have fun and learn cooperation with this holiday P.E. tradition.

Science Fair  Fifth graders displayed their science projects at the annual fair.

Sculpture  ILE Fine Arts students studied sculpture then visited a local artist.

Senior Tea  Each year Mills Lawn throws a party for Senior Citizens.

Sixth Grade Farewell  Mills Lawn said good-bye to its sixth graders and sent them off to Middle School.

Spelling Bee  Mills Lawn named its school champion in December.

SpringFest  An music and art festival was held on the (Mills) Lawn in May.

Stone Soup Bowls  Mills Lawn students created beautiful pottery bowls in art class for the PTO Stone Soup Dinner.

Teambuilding Mills Lawn students participated in activities designed to promote cooperation and unity.

Toys for Tots Student Council collect toys for this Marine Corps program, which helps needy children.

Velveteen Rabbit The Yellow Springs Kids' Playhouse presented the play at Mills Lawn and offered some workshops for our students.

Windmill Farm  Our kindergartners checked out the pumpkin harvest in October.
