Aerobics   Students got energized in P.E. class.

African American History Biographies  Fifth graders combined research and an art project to produce biographies.

African American History Search  The sixth grade used the web to research famous African Americans in history.

African American Music and Art Showcase  The music and art departments celebrated African American heritage through music and art.

Americana Festival 2002  Our all-school cultural festival featuring the United States.

Art Masks   Students created plaster masks in art class.

Aviary    Our third graders maintain a colorful aviary

Band Concert    The fifth and sixth grade band performed.

Bike Hike  Third and fourth graders learned about bicycle safety and had fun, too.

Biography Portraits  3/4 and 4th graders created portraits of famous Ohioans.

Book Reviews   Mills Lawn students wrote online reviews of their favorite books.

Broadway Babies  Our kindergartners sang their hearts out in a concert featuring the best of Broadway.

Buddy Classes  Older students are paired with younger ones to learn from each other.

Celebrate!   The third and fourth grades Skills for Life musical.

Chihuly Glass Exhibit    The 3rd and 4th graders traveled to the Dayton Art Institute and returned to create their own art.

Children's Book Week   We celebrated with our favorite pig!   Writing, art, music, and dance projects.

Chili Cook-off  A Mills Lawn sixth grader won the McKinney School Chili Cook-off.

Construction project  Our long-awaited expansion began.

Economics Days   5th and 6th grade students learned about basic economics principles

Evening in Egypt  The 6th grade showed off what it learned about Ancient Egypt and a special music and dance performance

Ella Jenkins   The legend of children's music dropped by Mills Lawn for a delightful performance

First Grade Story Quilts Students created cooperative, seasonal quilts based upon their reading.

Glen Helen Project    Students explored our local nature preserve in a year-long study.

Greenhouse   Our third grade maintains a rich collection of plants in the school greenhouse.

Groundhog Volleyball  Students and staff played volleyball as a culminating P.E. activity.

Halloween Parade   Our younger students showed off their costumes.

How Does Your Garden Grow?  Our first and second grade spring concert.

International Night  Sixth graders displayed reports and projects about countries around the world to a large crowd of visitors and family members.

International Project  Sixth graders researched countries around the world.

Invention Convention  Sixth graders studied about inventions and inventors, then created their own amazing inventions.

Japanese Pen Pals  The sixth grade corresponded with their counterparts in Japan.

Kids Voting    Mills Lawn students cast their votes in the 2001 election.

Laser Residency  Our Scientist in Residence program featured lasers for fifth and sixth graders.

Looking in, Looking out  Mills Lawn received a $25,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day  Mills Lawn students participated in a MLK march and essay contest.

Medieval Festival 2002  6th graders relived those "Times of Old."

MicroWorld Quiz   Students created an interactive quiz using our digital microscope.

Mills Lawn Construction  Our long-awaited expansion project began.

Mills Lawn in Space!  The first of Mills Lawn's laser experiments returned from space aboard the Shuttle.

Orchestra Concert   The fifth and sixth grade orchestra performed.

Proficiency Test Results  Mills Lawn is rate "Excellent" by the State of Ohio.

Project Alert  Fifth graders involved in an anti-smoking program created posters for a PowerPoint presentation.

Puppetry Artist in Residence  The first a second grades learned all about puppets in February.

Retired Staff Club  Retired staff of Yellow Springs Schools stayed in touch with each other and Mills Lawn.

Robotics II   Joe Graves returned for a week-long robotics residency.

Robotics Competition   Fifth and 5/6 graders competed in Mills Lawn's Robotics Challenge, "Volcanic Panic!"

Rosetta Stone WebQuest    The sixth grade premiered a problem-based learning unit online.

Second Grade Garden  Students planted a beautiful garden.

Sixth Grade Farewell  Mills Lawn says good-bye to its sixth graders

Senior Tea 2002  Mills Lawn put on a party for our senior citizens.

Tree Relocation  Two trees were moved to make way for our long-awaited construction project, which will expand Mills Lawn.

Underground Railroad Traveler  Joan Southgate stopped at Mills Lawn during her 400-mile walk along the Underground Railroad.

Wax Museum The 3/4 and 4th grades put on their annual Ohio History Wax Museum.
